The task

People come to FaceForge with one goal: get a professional headshot without a photographer. The product needed a flow that takes them from picking a style to paying, uploading photos and getting results — without confusion, and without losing them at the upload step, where most mistakes happen.

Flow

I built the flow as short steps with one decision per screen: gender, clothing style, plan, upload. A progress bar shows how far is left, and every step can be undone. After payment, the user lands on an orders page where they can follow the status and download results.

Upload

Upload is where things usually go wrong: blurry selfies, sunglasses, weird angles. So the upload screen shows real “do” and “don’t” examples right next to the drop zone, plus a live counter for the minimum number of photos and file size. Users see what works before they upload, not after the result disappoints them.

Every state, two languages

I designed all the in-between states — processing, waiting, payment errors, upload errors, success — and the full flow for desktop and mobile, in English and German. Later I suggested a mobile-first version of the style selection to make the flow shorter on phones.
